Easy 4 Ingredient Chocolate Soufflé
I have made many soufflés over the years with flavors ranging from cheddar cheese to blueberry violet, and this is the recipe I always go back to. It's simple, delicious and I always have the ingredients on hand. This recipe is the perfect dessert for when you want to impress your guests, or even just for yourself if you are feeling extra fancy.
Easy 4 Ingredient Chocolate Soufflé
230 g bittersweet chocolate
100 g butter
6 eggs, separated
80 g sugar
(You will need extra butter and sugar for ramekins)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare 5 (8 oz) oven safe ramekins, brush generously with softened butter and coat the inside with sugar. Set aside.
Over a double boiler melt chocolate and butter. Set aside to cool slightly.
Separate the egg whites and yolks. Stir egg yolks into chocolate mixture.
Place whites in the bowl of your electric stand mixer and start whipping on medium speed. When whites become frothy, slowly start to add your sugar in 3 separate additions. Whip meringue until it can hold a medium-firm peak.
Take a small amount of the meringue and stir it into the chocolate mixture to help lighten it. Gently fold the remaining egg whites in, being very careful not to deflate the meringue.
Divide into the prepared ramekins and bake for 20 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
