This is the easiest butterscotch sauce ever. It does not require any caramelizing of the sugar, no thermometer is needed, and comes together in literally 5 minutes. It is delicious drizzled on pancakes, over your afternoon latte, as a topping for an ice cream sundae, swirled into brownie batter, the possibilities are endless.
Easy 5 Minute Butterscotch Sauce
95 grams granulated sugar
95 grams brown sugar (dark and light both work)
113 grams unsalted butter
120 grams heavy cream
2 teaspoons Scotch
1/2 teaspoon salt
In a medium size sauce pan, stir together all the ingredients except the scotch. Melt the ingredients over medium heat, once butter is fully melted, boil for 3 minutes to thicken the sauce. Remove from heat and stir in the scotch.
Cool over an ice bath. Once sauce is cool, place in an airtight container and store in fridge for 2-3 weeks.
Before using the butterscotch sauce, gently reheat the amount you need over low heat on the stove or in the microwave.
