Soft and Chewy Nutella Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies
Soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies, stuffed with Nutella and lightly sprinkled with sea salt.
Why you’ll love this recipe
Well, let’s start with the obvious, they are STUFFED with Nutella. That’s right the chocolate hazelnut spread we all know and love, stuffed inside a delicious chocolate chip cookie.
These cookies are soft and chewy. The dough for this recipe contains sour cream and egg yolk, which are both fats. Simply put, the more fat a recipe has, the softer it usually is. If you want to get really technical, fat coats gluten strands, which shortens them, resulting in an extremely tender dough.
This recipe is super easy and fast. It only requires one bowl to mix all the ingredients together.
Tips on making this recipe
Chill your Nutella after scooping, this makes it much easier to stuff inside of the cookie dough without it getting everywhere.
You can use store bought or homemade Nutella, I’ve used both, and these cookies turn out great regardless.
Scoop your cookies when the dough is still soft, and then chill them slightly before carving out the center where the stuffing is going to go.
How to make this recipe

Nutella Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 jar of Nutella
Instructions
- Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and scoop out the Nutella into about 2 teaspoon size rounds. Freeze until firm. This makes it easier to stuff inside of the cookie dough without the Nutella getting everywhere.
- In a large bowl whisk the melted butter and brown sugar together.
- Beat in the egg yolks and sour cream.
- Mix in remaining dry ingredients and chocolate chips until fully combined.
- Scoop dough with a 2 inch cookie scoop. Chill until firm.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Once dough is cold, press a well into the center of the dough and place the frozen Nutella inside. Reshape the dough, making sure to fully seal it in the center.
- Place on a prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Sprinkle each cookie with a pinch of sea salt if desired.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, rotating once, until cookies are lightly golden around the edges.
- Cool slightly before serving.
