Magic Cookie Skillet
A combination of chocolate chip cookies and the classic dessert magic bars, baked in a deep dish skillet.
What are magic bars?
Magic Bars also known as Hello Dolly Bars, or Seven Layer Bars. It is typically a layer of graham cracker crust, with chocolate chips, butterscotch chip, nuts, coconut, and then sweetened condensed milk poured over. The ingredients are not mixed together, just layered, so when they bake they melt together forming a delicious, gooey mixture that can then be cut into bars once cooled.
Because there are so many variations of this recipe, it is very easy to change up the flavors to your liking, by incorporating some of these into your cookie dough. Here are a few ways…
Peanut Butter, chopped up peanut butter cups and a drizzle of peanut butter when it comes out of the oven.
Oreos, Im always a big fan of adding to Oreos to anything.
M&M’s, or any type of chocolate candy would work well in this recipe.
Milk or White Chocolate Chips, or a mixture of both, if you are not a fan of dark chocolate.
Try a different nut, hazelnuts, almonds, peanuts. Whichever is your favorite.
Tips on making this recipe perfectly
Use an 8”-10” skillet to bake this cookie. Anything larger will result in too thin of a cookie and will not turn out gooey in the center.
Use room temperature butter and eggs, the cookie dough will come together better if these 2 ingredients are left out for a couple hours before making.
Enjoy this cookie fresh out of the oven. This recipe is best served warm with some vanilla ice cream on top.
Any leftovers without ice cream will store best wrapped air tight at room temperature for 2-3 days. To reheat cover in foil and warm in a 300 degree F for about 10 minutes.
