An easy and delicious apple dessert
Who doesn’t love a dessert that can be made in advance? One of my favorite things about parfaits is that all the components can be made ahead of time, making them a great option for when you have guests come over.
These parfaits are made by layering, flambéed apples, creamy cheesecake yogurt, and a quick graham crumble. They are great to enjoy for dessert, snack, or even a brunch!
Why you’ll love this recipe
All three components are super easy to make and can be made ahead of time.
This recipe is easily adaptable if it needs to be made dairy free or gluten free. Just replace the graham crackers with a gluten free version, and the yogurt and cream cheese with a dairy free option. All the measurements will stay the same.
These parfaits have different flavors and textures of crunchy, creamy, sweet, and tart making them a perfectly balanced dessert.
Ingredients you’ll need
Apples -Gala, McIntosh, Cortland, and Honeycrisp are all great options.
Butter- to cook the apples in, and to make the graham crumblw
Sugar - to help caramelize the apples
Bourbon - to flambé the apples
Greek Yogurt - 5% yogurt is a great option and will whip nicely
Cream Cheese - full fat cream cheese works best
Powdered Sugar - to sweeten the cheesecake filling
Vanilla - to flavor the filling
Lemon - to balance the flavor
Tips on making this recipe perfectly
Use apples that good for baking, and will not become mushy when cooked. Gala, Honeycrisp, Cortland, and McIntosh all work well.
Make sure the cream cheese is room temperature before preparing the filling, this will help it whip and incorporate easier.
Cook the apple for a few minutes in just the butter before adding the sugar. If the sugar is added too soon, it will pull the moisture out of the apple and make them mushy.
Assemble the parfaits right before serving, this way the graham crumble will stay crunchy.
